Apps and updates

Use LiteShop in the browser or install the Android and Windows apps, and keep them up to date.

LiteShop is the same everywhere: in a web browser, on Android and on Windows. Sign in with the same Google or Facebook account, and you see the same shop, items and sales.

When to use: when you set up a new phone, tablet or PC for your shop.

  1. Open https://liteshop.app/download on the device you want to use.
  2. Find your device: Android or Windows.
  3. Tap Download.
  4. Follow the short steps under the button.

Inside LiteShop you can also open Settings > App > Get the app.

#Web app

The web app needs no install. It works in Chrome, Safari, Edge or Brave.

When to use: on any device, or when you can't install the app.

  1. Open https://pos.liteshop.app.
  2. Tap Continue with Google or Continue with Facebook.
  3. Optional: install it on your home screen. See Install the web app.

The web app keeps selling when the internet drops. See Offline mode.

#Install the web app

You can add the web app to your home screen, Start menu or Dock. There is nothing to download from a store. LiteShop then opens from its own icon, in its own window, like an app, and it also opens without internet.

When to use: on a phone, tablet or PC that you use every day for the shop, when you don't want to download the Android or Windows app.

In LiteShop

  1. Tap your initials (the account menu).
  2. Tap Install app. You also find it in Settings > App > Help & learning.
  3. Chrome, Edge and Android: tap Install in the window that opens.
  4. iPhone and iPad: LiteShop shows the steps with a picture. Follow them (see below).

Install app shows only where the web app can be installed. It is hidden when LiteShop is already installed, and in the Android and Windows apps. On a phone, LiteShop suggests it once after you have opened it a few times. Tap the × to close the suggestion.

Android (Chrome)

  1. Open https://pos.liteshop.app in Chrome.
  2. Tap Install when it appears. Or tap the ⋮ menu, then Install app or Add to Home screen.
  3. Open LiteShop from your home screen.

iPhone and iPad (Safari)

  1. Open https://pos.liteshop.app in Safari.
  2. Tap Share. It is at the bottom on iPhone and at the top on iPad.
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Tap Add.

Windows and Mac (Chrome or Edge)

  1. Open https://pos.liteshop.app in Chrome or Edge.
  2. Click the Install icon at the right end of the address bar. Or open the browser menu and choose Install LiteShop (Edge: Apps > Install this site as an app).
  3. LiteShop opens in its own window. It is also in the Start menu or the Dock.

#Windows

The Windows app runs on Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit). It installs in a few seconds and needs no administrator.

When to use: on the shop PC at the counter.

  1. On the download page, download LiteShop Setup and open it.
  2. If you see Windows protected your PC, click More info.
  3. Click Run anyway. Windows shows this because the app is new.
  4. LiteShop installs and opens. It is also in the Start menu and on the desktop.
  5. Click Continue with Google. Your web browser opens.
  6. Sign in there, then come back to LiteShop.

To uninstall, open Windows Settings > Apps.

#Android

The Android app runs on phones and tablets with Android 6 or newer. It is not on Google Play yet, so you install the file from the download page.

When to use: on a shop phone or tablet.

  1. Open the download page in Chrome on the phone.
  2. Tap Download.
  3. When the download finishes, open the file.
  4. If Android asks, allow Install unknown apps for Chrome, then go back.
  5. Tap Install.
  6. Tap Open and sign in with Google.

#iPhone, iPad and Mac

The iPhone, iPad and Mac apps are coming soon. Until then, use the web app.

When to use: when your shop uses Apple devices.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open https://pos.liteshop.app in Safari.
  2. Tap Share.
  3. Tap Add to Home Screen.

LiteShop then opens from its own icon, like an app, and also works offline.

Mac

  1. Open https://pos.liteshop.app in Safari or Chrome.
  2. In Chrome you can choose Install LiteShop to get a window of its own.

#Updates

LiteShop checks for new versions by itself. An update never interrupts a sale.

When to use: when you see an update bar, or want to check by hand.

Web app

When a new version is ready, a bar says A new version of LiteShop is ready.

  1. Finish the current sale.
  2. Tap Reload.

If you do nothing, LiteShop reloads by itself only when the checkout is empty, nobody has touched it for a minute, and no sales are waiting to sync.

Windows app

  1. LiteShop downloads the update in the background. If the bar shows Update, click it to start the download.
  2. When it is done, the bar says Update ready.
  3. Finish or clear the current sale. While the cart has items, the button stays off and the bar says Finish or clear the current sale first.
  4. Click Restart to update. LiteShop closes and opens again in a few seconds.

Android app

  1. When a bar says a new LiteShop version is available, tap Install update.
  2. The first time, LiteShop shows Allow LiteShop to install updates. Tap Open settings.
  3. Turn on Allow from this source.
  4. Go back and tap Install update again.
  5. Android asks you to confirm. Tap Update. Your data stays on the phone.

Check by hand

  1. Open Settings > App.
  2. Under App version, tap Check for updates.
