Instalments (pay monthly)
Sell an expensive item with a down payment today and equal monthly payments, see each customer's schedule, record payments, get overdue alerts with a pay link, and handle refunds.
A customer wants a 7,000,000 Ks phone but can pay 1,000,000 Ks today and the rest over six months. With Pay monthly LiteShop makes the schedule for you — Down 1,000,000 · 6 × 1,000,000 from 15 Nov — keeps track of every monthly payment and tells you when one is late.
Instalments are part of credit sales: what the customer still has to pay is in their debt book and counts as your receivable, like any sale on credit. Instalments are on Plus and up. Owners can switch them off in Settings → Features → Instalments (it needs Credit book on).
#Sell on instalments
When to use: an expensive item, paid partly now and the rest every month.
- Add the items to the cart and pick the Customer (or add a new one with Add customer).
- Tap Charge and choose On Credit, then tap Pay monthly.
- Type the Down payment (cash now).
- Choose the Months (3, 6, 9, 12, or any number from 2 to 36 with − and +).
- Check First payment due (a month from today unless you change it).
- Check the schedule: for example 6 × 1,000,000 from 15 Nov. Tap Show schedule to see every month.
- Tap Charge.
The monthly amounts are equal and in whole kyats; anything left over goes on the last payment. For example, 1,000,000 Ks over 3 months is 333,333 + 333,333 + 333,334.
The receipt shows You owed before, On credit (this sale), Instalment fee (if any), You owe now and the line Down 1,000,000 · 6 × 1,000,000 from 15 Nov.
The customer's credit limit counts the whole amount on instalments plus the fee. Over the limit, a manager can approve it with a reason (or a cashier asks for Override with manager passcode), like any sale on credit.
#Instalment fee
You can add a fee for paying monthly: a % of the amount on instalments or a Fixed amount.
- Open Settings → Customers → Credit sales → Instalment fee.
- Choose % of the amount or Fixed amount and type it (0 = no fee).
- Tap Save.
The fee is added to what the customer pays monthly and is shared over the months: 6,000,000 Ks with a 5% fee is 6,300,000 Ks, or 6 × 1,050,000. Cashiers always use the shop's fee. Owners and managers can tap Change fee on the charge screen for one sale.
#The schedule
Open Customers and tap the customer. Under Credit (pay later), Pay monthly plans shows each plan:
- what was bought, 6 × 1,000,000 from 15 Nov and 2 of 6 paid;
- On track, a red Overdue amount, Paid off or Cancelled;
- Left to pay and the next payment (Next 1,000,000 on 15 Dec).
Tap Schedule to see every month: the due date, the amount and Paid, Due, Partly paid or how many days late it is. Finished plans are under Finished plans.
Each monthly payment is also a line in the customer's debt book (Instalment 2 of 6), with its own due date.
#Record a payment
When to use: the customer pays a monthly payment (or more).
- Open the customer and, on the plan, tap Record payment.
- The amount due now is filled in (what is late, else the next payment). Tap Due now or Pay off to change it, or type another amount.
- Choose Paid by and tap Record.
The payment goes to the plan's oldest unpaid month first. Paying more than one month pays the next months too. Record payment at the top of the customer page (not on a plan) pays the customer's oldest debts first, whichever sale they are from.
#Pay off early
To pay the whole plan now, tap Record payment on the plan, then Pay off. Every month is paid and the plan shows Paid off. The fee is not lowered automatically; to give a discount, an owner or manager uses Adjust → Owes you less with a reason.
#Overdue instalments
A monthly payment is late from the day after its due date. Every day at 9:00 LiteShop checks the plans:
- the plan shows a red Overdue amount on the customer page and in Reports → Credit;
- owners and managers get one alert per late payment in Alerts → Overdue instalments (and as a push or Telegram message under Payments, outside your quiet hours);
- when Payment links are on, LiteShop makes a pay link for what is late, ready in the alert.
In the alert tap Send reminder: the message says which payment is late and has the pay link; send it by Viber, Telegram, SMS, Copy or Share. Then tap Mark reviewed. The customer's phone number is never in the alert.
You can also send a reminder any time from the plan on the customer page (Send reminder). The pay page shows Instalment 2 of 6 · due 15 Dec and how much is left on the plan.
#Reports
Reports → Credit shows Pay monthly plans: Still to collect on open plans, Due this month (payments due from today to the end of the month) and Overdue, with the customers who are late. The down payment counts as money received on the day of the sale; monthly payments show as Credit collected, not as new sales.
#Refunds and voids
- Return part of the sale (refund to Back to credit balance): the plan gets shorter — the last months are lowered first. The fee stays.
- Return everything or void the sale: the plan is Cancelled and what is still unpaid comes off the customer's balance, fee included. Monthly payments the customer already made go to their other debts first, and anything left becomes store credit. A cash down payment is refunded like any cash payment.
#Plans
Instalments are on Plus, Pro and Ultra. On the Free plan, Pay monthly shows a lock; selling On Credit (pay later) works on every plan. Plans made before a downgrade stay: payments, reminders and the schedule keep working, no data is deleted.
